Erstmals in der Geschichte der Modelleisenbahn erscheint beim Vorbild der großen Bahn eine Lokomotive,
die die Logos der beiden Modellbahnfirmen Märklin und PIKO trägt.
For the first time in the history of model railroading, a locomotive appears in the prototype of the big train,
bearing the logos of the two model railroad companies Märklin and PIKO.
Besonderheit der Lokomotive 218 497-6 ist eine auffällige Sonderlackierung,
die das Ergebnis eines Kreativwettbewerbs unter den Mitarbeitern der DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH (FZI) ist.
Sie symbolisiert die Geschichte des Standortes Cottbus, die von der Dampflok Instandsetzung bis zu Wartung von ICEs reicht.
Im FZI Cottbus wird die Lok auch künftig beheimatet sein und den Kunden als Ersatzlokomotive zur Verfügung stehen.
Die beiden Modellbahnhersteller Märklin und PIKO fungieren als gemeinsame Werbepartner dieses Projektes.
Die Firmenlogos beider Hersteller sind wechselseitig an den Stirnseiten der Lokomotive angebracht,
sowohl beim Original, als auch beim Modell.
Das PIKO Logo ziert die schwarze Hälfte, das von Märklin die lichtgraue.

A special feature of locomotive 218 497-6 is a striking special paint scheme,
which is the result of a creative competition among the employees of DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH (FZI).
It symbolizes the history of the Cottbus site, which ranges from steam locomotive maintenance to the servicing of ICEs.
The locomotive will continue to be based at FZI Cottbus and will be available to customers as a replacement locomotive.
The two model train manufacturers Märklin and PIKO are acting as joint advertising partners for this project.
The company logos of both manufacturers are alternately affixed to the front sides of the locomotive,
both on the original and on the model.
The PIKO logo adorns the black half, that of Märklin the light gray.
