Die Darjeeling Himalayan Railway ist wohl eine der berühmtesten Schmalspurbahnen der Welt.
Das in Indien gelegene technische Meisterwerk,
das sich auf einer Länge von 50 Meilen über insgesamt 6.850 Fuß erhebt, wurde zwischen 1878 und 1881 gebaut.
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is probably one of the most famous narrow gauge railways in the world.
The technical masterpiece located in India,
which rises over a total of 6,850 feet for a distance of 50 miles,
was built between 1878 and 1881.
Die Hauptantriebskraft der Bahn waren die bekannten Klasse ‚B‘ 0-4-0 Brunnen-Tank-/Satteltank-Maschinen,
die von Sharp Stewart & Co aus Glasgow entwickelt wurden.
Zwischen 1889 und 1929 kaufte die DHR insgesamt 33 Lokomotiven dieser Baureihe, die z.T. heute noch im Einsatz sind.

The main driving force of the railway was the well-known class ‚B‘ 0-4-0 well-tank/saddle-tank machines,
developed by Sharp Stewart & Co of Glasgow.
Between 1889 and 1929 the DHR bought a total of 33 locomotives of this series, some of which are still in service today.
