Schmalspurdampflok 99 221
1930 lieferte Schwartzkopff drei fünffach gekuppelte Maschinen als 99 221-223 aus.
Sie bildeten nun die stärksten Schmalspurloks der DRG.
1944 wurden die 99 221 und 223 zum Kriegseinsatz in das besetzte Norwegen abkommandiert und verblieben dort.
Hingegen steht die 99 222 noch heute im täglichen Einsatz bei den Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB).
Der Fotografieranstrich wurde vor allem für Werksaufnahmen nach der Fertigstellung
der ersten Lokomotive einer Bauserie verwendet.
Der Fotografieranstrich, der aus abwaschbarer Kalk-Farbe bestand,
diente der besseren Fotografierbarkeit der grundsätzlich schwarzen Lokomotiven.
Denn die damalige Fototechnik mit Schwarzweißfilmen bzw. mit Emulsionen auf Glasplatte
konnte die feinen Kontraste an einer schwarzen Lok noch nicht wiedergeben.
Mit dieser Methode konnten die vielen Leitungen und Apparaturen auf dem Kessel einer Lokomotive besser sichtbar gemacht werden.
Narrow gauge steam locomotive 99 221
In 1930 Schwartzkopff delivered three five-coupled machines as 99 221-223.
They were now the most powerful narrow-gauge locomotives of the DRG.
In 1944 the 99 221 and 223 were detached to the occupied Norway and remained there.
In contrast, the 99 222 is still in daily use at the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB).
The photographic paint was mainly used for factory photographs after the completion of the first locomotive in a series.
The photographic paint, which consisted of washable lime paint,
served the better photographability of the basically black locomotives.
Because the photographic technology of the time with black-and-white films or emulsions on glass plate
could not yet reproduce the fine contrasts of a black locomotive.
With this method the many lines and apparatuses on the boiler of a locomotive could be made more visible.
